Andrew is a proud member of the Nisga’a Nation, and has lived in his home community of Laxgalts’ap in Northwestern BC for most of his life. He considers himself deeply privileged to have been raised by his grandparents in a community where, as a Nisga’a person, the importance of who he is and where he comes from has been ingrained in his very being all his life. He spends a great deal of time both formally and informally in a capacity where he is educating people about Indigenous history, culture, and knowledge. He thoroughly enjoys public speaking engagements with both small and large audiences, and has significant experience working with Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities on provincial, national, and global levels.
His involvement with Indigenous affairs and the realities of the Indigenous lived experience, Indigenous knowledge systems, languages, and cultural practices cannot be understated.
His Masters in First Nations Studies from the University of Northern British Columbia and wealth of other valuable education has served him well during various Leadership positions. He is the owner and operator of ReconciliAction Consulting, Ltd. and has also worked in a variety of governance/administrative positions with Laxgalts’ap Village Government, McLeod Lake Indian Band, Nisga’a Lisims Government, and others.
